The picture above was our home until it was destroyed by fire on December 31, 2000. We were not home when the fire started. We received a call at Church that our house was on fire. As we quickly drove home we could see the smoke, but could not believe it was our home until we were almost home. We were in denial; we did not think it could happen to us.
The Fire department was only 5 blocks away but no one saw the fire and reported it until it was too late, our home was destroyed. By the grace of God no one was injured during the fire except our pets. Almost every possession we had worked so hard to get for ourselves and our children was lost that morning. We were in shock.
The insurance adjuster reassured us that we were fully covered and we would be able to rebuild. Then he handed us a number of forms to fill out. He asks us to right down everything we had in the house so the insurance company could pay us for the loss. The stress of losing everything except what we were wearing and moving in with our parents was stressful enough. Having to remember and document everything in our home was almost too much to bear. It was easy to remember the big things in each room but remembering everything in the drawers, cabinets, closets, family heirlooms, all of the kids toys, and family pictures was far more difficulty and stressful than I can express in words. We worked on the list for 12 months before we finished and finally signed the insurance release.
It has been 10 years, we know now that we did not remember half of what we had. We just could not remember all of the small things. Our contents were insured for $90,000 and we lost $40,000 in un-filed losses because we just could not remember.
Asset Protector would have dramatically increased the insurance payment we received to rebuild our lives by providing us with the information needed to properly document our loss, reduced our stress, and provided additional funds to rebuild our lives.

Today, we use Asset Protector. We update our records whenever we make a big purchase and we completely re-photograph our home every year. We place all of our critical information in the Asset Protector application in the event disaster strikes our family again.
Asset Protector takes such a small amount of time to document your critical information. We know firsthand how valuable this information is when suddenly the unexpected happens.
